Payroll news is warming the hearts of people living in the majority of US states, according to the Online Recruiters Directory, which serves headhunters and job candidates. There are 38 states and the District of Columbia each added jobs across the board, good news for the recession-weary who have been waiting for news jobs to open up to replace the old ones they had lost. Ohio wins the proverbial golden goose award for April, creating 37,300 jobs, according to US Bureau of Labour Statistics. Runners up were Pennsylvania, New York, Texas and Virginia, all adding significant new jobs, as well. Interestingly, three of the top five job-creation states are on the East Coast, continuing the March 2010 trend of rising East Coast job optimism.

Meanwhile, 34 states and the District of Columbia were able to cheer a welcome decrease in their state unemployment rates. The recession has been hard on almost every state, increasing unemployment – fewer jobs, more unemployed, more insecurity for those still employed –

Unfortunately, the news was not as bright everywhere as it was in Ohio and Texas. In fact, it was not even uniformly good news along the East Coast, where New Hampshire, Maine and Rhode Island continued to bleed jobs. Colorado also suffered significant job losses in April. These states continue to suffer economically and also from the low morale that accompanies high unemployment – even among those who retain their jobs.

Regionally, the Northeast maintains the lowest unemployment rate while, in terms of lowest unemployment rates for individual states, the Dakotas twins remain the unquestioned leaders, with Nebraska also continuing an impressive employment rate. These three states have weathered the recession, holding on to most of their jobs even when it was bleakest elsewhere.

The highest rate of unemployment overall is found in the West, with the Pacific geographic division sporting the highest unemployment, in large part due to the high unemployment in the most populous state in the nation – California.

In terms of which individual states are suffering the most, though, hapless Michigan retains the highest unemployment rate. All the wonderful headlines about the auto sector bouncing back have yet to be felt by Michigan workers, who are still waiting for their share of the good news.

The five states with the highest unemployment rate (all over 12 percent), where you would least want to be stuck looking for a new job, are:

1. Michigan
2. Nevada
3. California
4. Rhode Island
5. Florida

We will be watching over the next few months to see if the employment situation in these hard-hit states will improve. If it does, that will be a very strong signal that the economic recovery is in full swing across the nation.

Reading through the commentaries by leading financial prognosticators, it sure seems that the employment crisis is already over. But that’s not to say there aren’t challenges ahead. The nationwide unemployment rate actually ticked up to 9.9%, in spite of the job creation reported by most states. It is clear that job hunters still have their work cut out for them, particularly in those states where the unemployment rate remains stubbornly high. The employment situation, though likely to improve, will do so in fits and starts offering uneven results to workers in different states…and don’t expect everything to improve overnight.

For further details, please see this video on the April 2010 employment situation by finance specialist Miranda Marquit, who prepares her monthly review of the job landscape for the Online recruiters Directory.

Employers researching the researchers!
A hot topic of discussion in research career circles is the growing propensity of potential employers to research their research career applicants. It isn’t just happening in the research world but nowhere else is it as ironic! Much of the investigation into research job applicants’ backgrounds isn’t conventional i.e.; a police report and a credit check. Today’s investigative research is taking place on social networking sites with potential employers looking into the backgrounds of research job applicants via sites like Facebook and Twitter.

For people with relatively normal lives this could be bad news. Nude pictures, slang, drinking, friends, any number of things could be misconstrued through these sites and reflect badly. Not many of us want to censor or edit our social networking sites in order to look good to strangers but that may be what’s necessary for the future. In a report by ConsumerAffairs.com, last year up to 45% of employers reported using social networking sites to check up on job candidates. That number had doubled from the previous year and this year the number is probably significantly higher than 45%. That means every research job applicant should expect to have their personal networking sites looked at by potential employers.

Interestingly the employers who did the most searching were the ones who were hiring for jobs in which employees handled sensitive information and technology. That of course applies to just about every research job on the planet and therefore it can be assumed that an even higher number of job in research applicants are social network screened than others. Even more fascinating are the reasons applicants have been rejected after social network site searches. The stats obtained in the survey are not unexpected; 53% of applicants were rejected for posting nudity, 44% for alcohol or drug use, job applicants who slandered their previous employers, co-workers or clients 35%, and others who were given the toss after the employer investigation included those with poor communication skills, those who discriminated, those who lied and those who disclosed confidential information.

Is there any good news? Yes, there is! A number of employers actually were swayed in favor of a particular research job applicant from the search results. Sites that initiated a positive employer response were those where the candidate profile page showed a good personality and a fit with the company; job qualifications were substantiated by the site information; candidates showed excellent communication skills and where candidates were well rounded with good feedback and people around them.
Of the employers surveyed who do conduct searches 29 percent used Facebook, 26 percent used LinkedIn and 21 percent used MySpace. One employer in 10 searched blogs, while 7% followed candidates on Twitter. The solution of course is to either clean up your site, set up two pages – one for the general public and one for friends and family – or make all of your sites private. What all of this goes to show is that social networking sites can be leveraged in favor of research job applicants willing to put in some effort and clean up their pages.

A person is product of his self and the way by which his environment affects him. In all unproven models about the development of apersonality, the conscious person is supposed to be incentivized by internal interactions inside his person. These two levels of personality have interaction with his environment and affect him individualistically developing his unique character and psychological identity.

According to the Bureau of Work stats there’s been a steady demand increase for psychology courses over the previous couple of years, both from folk who have to practice psychology in a standard field, and from people who need to use the information in a not related area, for example business. This is occurring as folks understand that psychology training is one of the most useful things you can get – for almost any career. In the complex arena of today, psychology courses loan you the training to deal with a wide range of roles and job-situations : from education to selling, from social work to finance, from elder care to the division all need experience of human psychology. This has lead to a huge interest in career in psychology and has further led to the mushrooming of psychology schools.

Psychology information had become more in demand, both from firms who are on the lookout for these capabilities, but also as a consequence of the turbulent nature of the Earth we are living in today. Fast changes and trouble in society mean more stress. Individually we need more but have less time. In the work place interpersonal communication capabilities are far more highly valued than previously.

Bosses demand more in less time. All these mean ( one ) that thereis a bigger amount of mental stress about, which we require help relieving and ( two ) knowing about how humans think will help you survive and grow at work. Are you now convinced you need to take a psychology course? In case you arenot, we’ll close this talk by pointing out two the job options that are available just in the area of traditional psychology. Bear in mind that we are not going to say the large array of career options outside psychology. Forensic Psychology : not necessarily as glamorous as it may look on television ; here you’re employed in and round the criminal justice system. You may be advising police, the jail service or the courts. You might work in a legal firm giving help with jury selection and trial methodology. Tutorial Psychology : Here you’d help deal with issues that kids face in education. Many youngsters today suffer with emotional issues, learning issues and issues of social acknowledgment. You’d help them to deal with these. Clinical Psychology : Here youare employed with folk in the health system, either at surgery or various community settings in this well recognized mental-health-psychology field. You may counsel patients with mental fitness issues or help people with learning issues. Support Psychology : probably the famous field. As a qualified aide you use your talents when working one-one-one with clients to decide private issues or psychological issues. This is a truly well-liked and in-demand field.

3 other fields for you to consider : Occupational Psychology, Psychotherapy and Sports Psychology.

For further information on professional school you can search the search engines on the internet or maybe have a look at this website www.professionalschoolpsychology.com

Many graduates leave university now with big debts. They spend their first few working years paying back their student loans which while at very low interest rates are still a lump of their wages which are gone before they start. This can influence many areas of their lives, buying a home, getting married, starting a family. All may have to be put on hold while the debts are repaid.

Some young people therefore opt to take a break between A levels and university to work and accumulate some savings, in order to aid them through university, thereby enabling their future working lives to be relatively free of debt. However, with the job market as it stands currently, all work becomes Careers In Demand and it is not easy for these gap year students to find a job which will permit them to earn enough money to keep them over the year, while at the same time saving enough to aid them through their years at university.

As most young people are pc-savvy, it may be a good idea for these students to bear in mind Work From Home careers in the Internet Business. There are lots of jobs available and in many occasions if the students have access to a computer while they are at university, they may well be able to carry on working as they study. This mean they can carry on to earn through their years at university, without the requirement to look for a new job during that period.

It stands to reason that in any university town or city, there are lots of people going after the same jobs. Most students want some extra money and will be fighting for any job which fits around their study. How brilliant, therefore, to be already organised with work and in a subject which is well-known. The Internet Business is quite flexible and therefore if you had selected a Work From Home option in your gap year, then more than likely it would be easy to transfer this work to your new home.

This type of work could certainly become Careers In Demand for students in the future as they can be so flexible and indeed a rational choice in the beginning could actually generate a good career following on from the years of study. Some Internet Business options may even allow for students to go on to own their own enterprise and maybe employ students in the future during their time at university.

Looking at these opportunities, there may be a few students who would originally have taken a year out to earn money prior to taking up their option to go to university, who will now be able to take this form of employment and go straight from A levels to university without a break. The fact that they would not be incurring such high debts would be a big justification for going straight to university.

If the students could also manage to obtain a role which matched their preferred field of education, this could give them some extra insight when they are doing assignments and help them to attain good results, leading to better jobs in the future.

The job market is very competitive and you need to use all your skills to make sure you get noticed by employers. Below you will find some tips to standing out in the job market and getting hired in the job if your dreams. The first thing to remember is to relate your CV to the jobs vacancies and not present a general piece of information on yourself.

The Curriculum Vitae
For the most part your CV will be the most important tool you have when applying for jobs. your CV is the only way that you can tell the employer you are the right person for the job and should be given an interview to demonstrate your skills.

The work experience that you list on your CV alone will influence half of all employers to give you an interview or not. A third of the employers decide to reject or accept these job applications based on the layout design of these applications.

1. Make Your CV Concise and Relevant
Do not write a really long CV. It will turn the employer off reading it. If an employer has to spend ages reading a CV they will reject it. You need to show that you value the readers time and tell them the most important information.

2. Always tailor your CV to the job.
Do not list any previous work you have done where it is not relevant to the role you have applied for. Some people keep many different versions of their CV for different job opening purposes. one CV will not be appropriate for every job you apply for. you need to make sure you show enthusiasm for the role instead of listing ever job you have ever had that does not relate to it in any way.

3. Write about your achievements
You may add your achievements, but make your statements factual and relevant. Making the most of your experiences is good but do not big yourself up without backing any statements up. Do not list any weak points however as this will turn the interviewer off straight away

One thing that is very vital and often gets overlooked when preparing to commence on a new career as an web entrepreneur is making sure to take time for meditation. This does not mean you will need to sit crossed legged and hum some mantra for an hour a day. Although if this is something that helps you to keep positive then go for it. What I mean by meditation is making sure that you set aside time in your busy day to assess your current position. Look closely at the decision’s you may have made and those you are preparing to make in the future.

Reflection could be described in this way, it is deep concentrated thinking in which a person seriously reflects on past experiences, ponders and muses over current matters, or thoughtfully contemplates possible future events. As you can see this sort of Reflection will help to think of career ideas to further your business or help you decide which career opportunities are really worthy of your consideration. Making time for this kind of meditation could really mean the difference between success or failure for your web venture.

Why is this so vital? Well often in life, especially in business it is too easy to get bogged down with day to day matters and lose your creative edge. For your new business venture to succeed in today’s cutthroat market place you need to have a unique selling point that makes your business stand out from your competitors, without creativity this is impossible to achieve. Often you will need to go back to basics and reflect on your primary intentions and ideas and sometimes you will need to peer forward to where you see your new career taking you in the future. Break down your future plans into short medium and long term. Put all these thoughts and ideas into your business plan, and remember a business plan is a living document that should develop and change over time as you and your business and changes. Also when using meditation to think of new career opportunities you will need to put yourself in your customer’s place, to think like they would.

As Aticus Finch would say “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view–until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it” .Look at your web site does it tell you as a user what you need to know, does it urge you to make a transaction or would you be put off. In your mind take each step through your plans and think about what tasks are needed at each stage of development. Never rush any decisions, always make sure that you have time to meditate on your options, lookfor advice where possible before making a decision. If you have a business partner or are working within a team use the vrious strengths of each member, don’t just always rely on yourself. Often the best career ideas come from discussion or debate with others and you could miss out on these by being a loner. Remember the previous definition stated that meditation involved deep concentrated thinking and serious reflection if you make sure that you allow time in a busy day for this it will greatly increase your prospects of making a success of your new career on the web.

Usually cover letter is used when employer wants to have an overview of your alilities. Besides, it gives them a chance to have quick information about you and as well helps them to choose exactly you among other pretenders. So as you may guess it is very essential to make a cover letter. It is like a first impression of you.

To write a successful cover letter one should remember not only what to comprise there, but to avoid some widely spread mistakes. Some misprints or other type of errors may easily end up in the worst way – your resume will be rejected, not even giving you a chance to work for a company you want to. Everyone does errors, but there are some tips to avoid them while writing a cover paper.

Cover paper is an additon to your resume, so as you understand it should be short and clear. It is not good idea to make it very long. Just keep it to your mind that your cover paper is one of the hundreds eployer has to read, so if it will be long and boring there is a possibility employer will not even read it. You should understand them. Time is money and eployers do not like to waste them. Do not write in your cover letter your life story, nobody wants to read it if it is longer than one page.

Let us tell a few words about print. As you may understand, it should not be very small or unreadable. The best way is to use 12-point or even higher. If you like to write a lot about your work skills, remember that they should be placed on one page. Fonts as well should be readable, so do not use pretty but hardly visible one. Again – time is money. Employers will not make an effort to read it. As a result, you will not get an answer.

Do not use many additional functions as bold of italics. Hardly ever, should you use underline – sometimes it may look rude or inappropriate. Sometimes you need to pay employer’s attention to some points, but do not do it very often or it may confuse the person who read this. Just remember about this when you would like to underline every second sentense.

Also, pay attention to a format of your paper. The first look on it should not frighten an employer. You also would not like a paper with tea spots on it. Be sure that your cover paper is clean, without any marks, stains or other inappropriate things. Use only a good paper, do not safe money on such things. Handwritten addings are also unforgivable. Always check your cover paper before to send it to an employer, better twice. Always remember that your cover paper should be unique.
