I am at home, busy at my computer, as I Work From Home. My husband is out in my automobile, as his is in the garage, taking my stepson back to his mum. The drive should only last 30 minutes. I receive a phone call from my husband within minutes – he has crashed my automobile. Luckily nobody is injured, but the automobile is a mess. It is Christmas week. The weather is awful. Apparently there have been a good deal of vehicle crashes recently and the insurance company are not positive that they can plan to pick up my automobile or give us a courtesy vehicle until after Xmas.
There is one thing we do not need to fret over here – we both Work From Home, so we do not have the worry of how we will get to the office each day. Although it is a hassle not to have a car to pop to the shops, and there may be some Xmas day rearrangements to negotiate, we can continue with our roles without issue.
My Internet Business does occasionally include visits to my clients, but happily I had none sorted, so I would not need to inconvenience anybody due to this accident. Most of my work involves Online Jobs and these can be carried out very easily without the need for a car.
As it happens, the garage who were given the task of repairing my car could come out the very next day and get it, leaving me a courtesy car at the same time. Again, the fact I Work From Home was a bonus, as I did not need to ask for time from my work to take delivery of the courtesy car, or to see the safe recovery of my own car. The garage merely called as the driver was leaving and I was able to meet him to sort out the handover. Within 15 minutes all was completed. No more time than a coffee break would take in an office, but had I been working away from my home I would in all probability have needed to ask for a whole morning or afternoon off work to complete this.
Back into my home and carry on with my Online Jobs. My Internet Business was not at all put under pressure because of this accident. I do not know how long my car will be in the garage, but it is not a problem. When they call to advise that my car is back to being as good as new and they are ready to return it to me, I shall once again be able to pop outside, check the car out, sign the papers and return to my home to carry on with my jobs.
The courtesy car does need to be returned with fuel and washed, so I may have to spend half an hour away from the house, doing these tasks, but it is certainly better than having to ask for yet another day off work at short notice, which could inconvenience many of my colleagues.
Definitely, the fact that I Work From Home has been an added bonus and caused me less upset in these circumstances than would have been the case if I was employed by a firm which required me to be in the office daily. I now just look forward to the return of my car looking as good as new.
Even a few days after Xmas day, can we remember every present we received and who gave them to us? I attempt to do this every year, but usually have problems within a week of remembering them all. Is it that I am not grateful? I do not think so, I am very grateful for what others get for me, so what is it that prevents me from immediately remembering all the parcels. Am I too pampered and receive so many it would be unfeasible to remember them all? No, I receive from about half a dozen family. I consider it is because I have so many ideas going on in my mind at any one time, I find it difficult to focus on just one.
In the first instance, there is my immediate family. As with the majority of families in the world today, it is a complex situation, each member with their own issues, and this takes up a big part of my thoughts. As well as that I have my home, which as with most homes, takes a good deal of money to keep in good repair and with quality furniture. Then there is my job. I am lucky that I Work From Home, so do not have to commute each day to an office, but being self employed does have its own uncertainties. As I have not been involved in my Internet Business for long, it is very much the early days of this business for me, with many worries about when funds will start to appear. I know in truth that it will happen in the near future, but a lot of my thoughts are spent on this right now.
So, I do not beat myself up with the fact I cannot remember instantly every present I have got. I thank everyone immediately for their parcels, before I have time to file that task away as complete, and perhaps this is one of the reasons I do not remember the parcels, it is a completed job.
